If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is frozen, boot failure, gets stuck on the Apple logo, or you simply want to revert to a previous iOS version that you are more comfortable with, this tool allows you to safely upgrade or downgrade your system without losing your data. The iOS Upgrade/Downgrade feature helps users manage their device’s system version in different situations.

Preparation

Before starting the upgrade or downgrade process, please ensure the following:

  • Your iOS device is connected to a Windows PC via a USB cable.

  • The device has enough battery or is connected to power.

  • FoneTool Repair is installed and running on your computer.

  • You have backed up important data as a precaution (although the process generally does not erase data)

Upgrade and Downgrade step by step

This feature allows you to upgrade or downgrade your iOS version if your device is frozen, won’t turn on, or you want to revert to a previous iOS version. The firmware list will show all available versions based on your connected iOS device, allowing you to upgrade or downgrade without losing your data.

Step 1. Click on the “iOS Upgrade/Downgrade” module.

Step 2.  To upgrade, select the "Upgrade"  at the top and click "Start".  You can click "Firm file" to select the iOS version you want to upgrade to, then click "Start Upgrade" to begin.

Step 3. The firmware will automatically identify the latest compatible version for your device based on its iOS model. After selecting your desired upgrade version, click "Start Upgrade" to initiate the process.

Step 4. To downgrade, select the "Downgrade"  at the bottom and click "Start". Similarly, click "Firm file" to choose the iOS version you want to revert to, then click "Start Downgrade" to begin the downgrade process.

In conclusion, the iOS Upgrade/Downgrade feature gives users full control over their system version. Whether upgrading to the latest release or rolling back to a previous version for a better experience, this tool ensures the process is safe and data remains intact, allowing your device to run smoothly on the iOS version that suits you best.
