How to reset device

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is experiencing network problems, notification glitches, or other minor software issues, you can perform a Standard Reset to restore normal operation without losing your data. If you plan to sell or trade your device, an Advanced Reset allows you to erase all data and restore factory settings, protecting your privacy. The Reset Device feature is designed to help users resolve common issues with their iOS devices.

Preparation

Before performing a reset, make sure:

  1. Your iOS device is connected to your Windows PC via a USB cable.

  2. The device is unlocked and accessible.

  3. You have installed and opened FoneTool Repair on your computer.

  4. Important data is backed up if you plan to perform an Advanced Reset, as this will erase all data.

Reset device step by step

This feature allows you to reset your device while keeping all your data intact, useful for fixing network or notification issues. You can also perform an "Advanced Reset" to erase all data and restore factory settings, ideal when selling or trading your device to prevent privacy concerns.

Step 1. Click on the “Reset Device” module.

Step 2. If you wish to reset the device while retaining all data, select "Standard Reset" on the left and click "Start".  Ensure your iOS device is unlocked before proceeding.

Step 3. After clicking "Start," please follow the steps illustrated in the figure to initiate the reset process.

Step 4. If you want to erase all data and restore factory settings, select "Advanced Reset" on the right.

Q: After wiping the data and resetting the phone, it prompts ‘Device is locked and requires Apple ID and password for activation’ during the setup process. What should I do?

A: If your phone had an Apple ID signed in and the "Find My iPhone" feature enabled before the reset, you will need to enter the associated Apple ID and password to activate and use the device after the data wipe and reset.

Q: Why does the device automatically re-enter recovery mode after exiting it?
